When migrating an existing ECC system to S/4HANA using SAP Private Cloud Edition (PCE), SAP provides a dedicated migration server to support the process.

With the use of SAP’s Software Update Manager (SUM), the technical migration procedure itself has become relatively straightforward. However, despite the simplified tools, the actual execution still requires solid expertise in SAP Basis, whether it is performed by the implementation team or the organization responsible for system maintenance.

While SAP clearly outlines the migration steps from the source system to the target PCE system using SUM, it also specifies that the migration activities are typically carried out by SAP partners. Of course, if desired, SAP can also handle the migration directly as a paid service.

The conversion process described above is introduced through an official video on the SAP Community channel. I highly recommend watching the video, even at increased playback speed, as it offers a lot of valuable insights in a short time.

Once a significant portion of the migration activities is completed, the system is handed over to SAP. From there, SAP's ECS (Enterprise Cloud Services) team takes over and proceeds with the reconfiguration of the SAP system to ensure it aligns with PCE standards.

For the conversion process, SAP typically provides a temporary server called LT1, which is specifically designated for PCE migration activities. This server plays a crucial role in facilitating the migration.

I will continue to share more details as additional information becomes available.
